Los Angeles, CA (October 14, 2015) – After a record-breaking turnout in Season 2, where 55 entries generated a prize pool of nearly $5.4 million, World Poker Tour® today announced that WPT Alpha8™ will return to Bellagio for a $100,000 super high roller during the WPT® Five Diamond World Poker Classic. WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas will kick off at the historic home of the first-ever televised World Poker Tour event on Thursday, December 17, and all of the action in the three-day event will be filmed for broadcast on FOX Sports 1 in the summer of 2016.
Friends and fellow Las Vegas pros Andrew Lichtenberger and Tom Marchese finished in first and second places respectively in Season 2, and both banked million-dollar scores. Registration for WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas will be open until the start of Level 7, and players are allowed unlimited re-entries.
The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic festival kicks off at Bellagio on December 4, and $1,090 buy-in super satellites to the Main Event begin on December 9. Each super satellite will award as many entries as possible to the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event, which begins on Monday, December 14 at noon. The final six players will converge at the televised final table on Saturday, December 19.
In Season XIII, Mohsin Charania topped a field of 586 entries to capture the top prize of more than $1.4 million and added a diamond to his nameplate on the venerable WPT Champions Cup™ for winning his second World Poker Tour event. Season XIII WPT Ones to Watch Garrett Greer finished runner-up, earning nearly $900,000.

All preliminary events will allow buy-ins and re-entries until the start of Level 7. All tournaments, excluding the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event and WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas, will play until a final table or 1 am. Final tables will resume at 1 pm the following day.
If players present a tournament receipt, they are eligible to receive a special hotel rate at Bellagio:
Sunday – Thursday: $139 + $29 daily resort fee and tax
Friday – Saturday: $189 + $29 daily resort fee and tax
