The World Poker Tour will head to Playground Poker Club in early 2017 for an added event to the WPT Main Tour schedule. WPT Playground will run Jan. 29 through Feb. 15, 2017, featuring a C$3,500 Main Event taking place Feb. 10-15.

The WPT Playground C$3,500 Main Event will have two starting days with a same-day re-entry format in place.

The event will mark the third time in Season XV that the WPT visits Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec, following in the footsteps of the season’s kickoff event, the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship in April and May of 2016, and the partypoker.net WPT Montreal that is currently running with a C$3,850 Main Event scheduled to run Nov. 11-17.

“Any time the WPT and Playground Poker Club team up, it’s a grand slam,” said Phil Sabbah, CMO of Playground Poker Club. “When the opportunity presented itself for us to add a third stop this season, we didn’t think twice.”

The WPT Playground Main Event falls in between the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event that runs Jan. 29 through Feb. 3 and the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic Main Event that runs Feb. 22-24.

“The timing is pretty much perfect,” added Sabbah, “as we’ve managed to build an unofficial ‘East Coast swing.’”

Playground Poker Club has tied the current event at the property, and the partypoker.net WPT Montreal, with the newly announced WPT Playground by creating a special freeroll for all players who win a side event from Oct. 30 through Nov. 17 during the WPT Montreal Festival of Poker. All those who do win one of these events will be eligible to enter a freeroll in February 2017 where the winner will be awarded a WPT Playground Main Event seat.
