Action continued on Thursday with the second starting flight of the Season XV partypoker World Poker Tour® UK Main Event. After 187 entries were tallied on Wednesday’s opening day, another 239 entries joined the mix. Combined, the field size grew to 426 entries, and there were 262 players who punched their ticket to Day 2.

With late registration and re-entry open until the end of the second level on Friday’s Day 2, the field size will surely grow.

After the end of the two starting flights, Sadman Shefan bagged the overall chip lead with 181,500. Cesar Garcia was in second place with 150,000, and then Ning Lu rounded out the podium on 147,275.

Some of the notable big stacks to advance were Manig Loeser (112,500), Padraig Parkinson (103,550), Surinder Sunar (91,300), and WPT® Raw Deal Analyst and Champions Club member Tony Dunst (83,050).

Anthony Gardner, a former Premier League soccer player for Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and Hull City also advanced to Day 2, having bagged 62,825 on Thursday.

Mike Shariati, the Season XIV Hublot WPT Player of the Year, made the trip across the pond from the US, but was eliminated just before the end of play on Thursday. He also busted out of Wednesday’s first starting day, but he can still make a return with another re-entry on Day 2.
