The first day of the WPT Korea Main Event took place on Tuesday at Grand Jeju Paradise Casino. The event features a buy-in of KRW 1.5 million (approx. $1,300) and a guaranteed prize pool of KRW 200 million.

Tuesday marked the first of two starting flights in the event, and the opening day attracted 65 entries to the felt. The day concluded after the first 10 levels of action, and when it ended there were 26 players who had survived for Day 2. Leading the way was Hong Kong’s Tsun Ming Chan with a stack of 165,500 in chips.

Joining Chan in advancing to Day 2 were notables Pete Chen with 79,000 in chips, Bryan Huang with 67,700, Juicy Li with 38,600, Kazuki Ikeuchi with 24,400, and Winfred Yu with 24,100.

Chen opened up Season XVI of the World Poker Tour with a victory in the WPT Beijing Main Event. Huang finished sixth in the same WPT Beijing Main Event and also won the WPT Korea High Roller just yesterday. Ikeuchi is also of note for winning two preliminary events here at WPT Korea.
