The 17th season of the World Poker Tour is kicking off in a familiar location, but a not-so-familiar casino. The WPT has hit Southern California every season since its inception, with the WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino or the WPT L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino. Now, the World Poker Tour is kicking off a historic Season XVII at the Gardens Casino with the highly anticipated WPT Gardens Poker Festival.
The series runs from July 13-26, 2018, with the $5,000 buy-in WPT Gardens Poker Festival Main Event starting on July 21 with Day 1a. The tournament has two starting flights, with Day 1b on July 22, and the final table will take place on July 26.
Although the venue might be a new location for the WPT Main Tour, this isn’t the first time that the WPT has made an appearance at the Gardens Casino. In May 2017, the venue hosted WPT500 Los Angeles for the event’s first-ever trip to Southern California. Dong Le topped a field of 3,266 entries to take home $224,500 and the title in the $565 buy-in event. Le topped a tough field of locals and regular circuit grinders, including Owen Crowe (2nd), Peter Hengsakul (3rd), Ilya Shpiner (5th), Deepinder Singh (6th), and Massoud Eskandari (7th).
The WPT Gardens Main Event starts Saturday, July 21, at 12 p.m. local time. Although this is not a televised event, the final table will be streamed online on Wednesday, July 26.
