Los Angeles, CA (March 13, 2018) – WPTDeepStacks™ (WPTDS™), winner of the 4th Annual American Poker Awards Mid-Major Tournament Circuit of the Year, today announced the second half of its Season 5 schedule for North America. Building on the first eight stops that were previously announced, the second half of the schedule includes five additional events in 2018, with stops in Montreal, Houston, Edmonton, San Diego, and Calgary.
“We are thrilled to increase the WPTDeepStacks schedule for Season 5 with the addition of five events that boast combined guarantees of more than $2 million and include the tour’s first-ever trips to Montreal and Texas,” said WPTDeepStacks Executive Director Chris Torina. “Together with our incredible casino partners, we look forward to providing the premier mid-major offering that poker players want and deserve.”
The second half of the Season 5 schedule begins in late August with a first-ever trip to Playground Poker Club just outside of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The WPTDeepStacks Montreal C$1,650 Main Events runs August 31-September 5.
Following Montreal, WPTDeepStacks will be in Texas for the first time ever for WPTDS Houston at FreeRolls Poker Club. The WPTDS Houston Main Event carries a $1,000 buy-in with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. This event runs September 21-25.
Next up, the tour heads to Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to host a DeepStacks Poker Tour (DSPT) series from September 29-October 8. The DSPT Edmonton C$1,100 Main Event runs October 5-8 and comes with a C$300,000 guarantee.
In October, poker’s premier mid-major tournament circuit heads to sunny Southern California for WPTDS San Diego at Oceans 11 Casino. The WPTDeepStacks San Diego festival features the $1,100 Main Event with a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Closing out Season 5 is the DSPT Championship, with the season-ending event returning to Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The DSPT Championship Main Event has a buy-in of C$2,500 and a prize pool guarantee of C$1 million. When the DSPT Championship was last at Grey Eagle, in 2016, the event attracted a field of 712 entries. Duff Charette won that tournament for C$284,095.
