The Season XVII Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions starts on June 1 at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The $15,000 buy-in season-ending event is the most prestigious event on the WPT calendar and features illustrious prizes along with $100,000 added to the total prize pool and $50,000 to first place. On June 3, the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions final table takes place in front of the World Poker Tour television cameras at HyperX Esports Arena inside Luxor Hotel & Casino.
Last season, Matthew Waxman (pictured) defeated a field of 80 players to win the Season XVI WPT Tournament of Champions for $463,375 against a final table that featured four-time WPT Champion Darren Elias.
Along with the prestige of being crowned the WPT’s “Champion of Champions,” the winner of the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions receives a haul of prizes from WPT sponsors. These prizes include a special edition Hublot Watch, a handcrafted Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions trophy, a Baccarat Crystal Champagne Flute set, a custom-made BBO Poker Table, and an additional $50,000 first-place cash bonus.
All players in the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions are winners just for entering the event. $100,000 is added to the total prize pool by the World Poker Tour and all players receive a gift bag valued at $1,000. Players in the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions are invited to join the World Poker Tour at Topgolf on June 1 at 8:30 pm following the completion of Day 1 action. Day 1 play for the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions starts at 11:00 am and plays for eight levels, ending at approximately 7:45 pm. Registration is open until the start of Level 3 (1:15 pm) and the full field will be known then. The party goes for three hours and features WPT talent, Champions Club members, and the best of Las Vegas all in one place.
All surviving players after Day 1 return to ARIA on Day 2 at 12:00 pm to play down to the WPT official final table of six. Those six players start action under the lights of HyperX Esports Arena at 4:00 pm and play to a winner with fans cheering them on.
As with previous WPT Tournament of Champions events, the Action Clock from Protection Poker will be in use for the entire event and play will be eight-handed. Players start the event with 50,000 in chips and have 60-minute levels to work with throughout the event until 30-minute levels at heads up action.
Season XVII of the World Poker Tour has been record-breaking across the globe and the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions will close the campaign out in grand fashion.
