Los Angeles, CA (August 24, 2020) – The World Poker Tour® has concluded a record-breaking WPT® Japan festival in Tokyo, hosted by Hotel Gajoen Tokyo and Sammy Corporation. The WPT Japan Main Event attracted 726 entries to compete for $35,000 in WPT Passports. Charlie Ryuta won the WPT Japan Main Event and earned a $13,000 WPT Passport to use at any WPT global event.

The festival marks the first live event for the WPT since March of this year and stamps another record-setting event in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, the event was hosted at Sammy Corporation, also known as “Sega Sammy.” Sammy Corporation is a global leader in video game development and retail, based in Tokyo. The final table played out at Sammy Corporation’s headquarters and was streamed on Twitch via the Japan Poker Union.
