World Poker Tour® returns to bestbet Jacksonville on Friday, March 21 for the WPT® bestbet Open, where players will compete to add their name to the prestigious WPT Champions Cup, and for valuable WPT Player of the Year points in one of the season’s last two events before April’s WPT World Championship sponsored by partypoker.
Featuring a $3,500 buy-in, the WPT bestbet Open offers players two Day 1s with unlimited re-entry and a prize pool guaranteed at $500,000. “With its world-class staff, great cash games, and tons of nearby amenities, bestbet has earned a reputation as one of the most popular events on tour,” said WPT President, Adam Pliska. “Add to that the fact that this event plays an important role in determining our WPT Player of the Year, and it’s easy to see why bestbet has quickly become a favorite destination for both our players and fans.”
bestbet’s first event of Season XII, November 2013’s WPT Fall Poker Scramble, attracted 358 entries, including Jeff Madsen and Matt Glantz, generating a total prize pool worth more than $1.1 million, more than doubling the guarantee. The tournament’s $252,749 first-place prize – and a coveted spot on the WPT Champions Cup – was claimed by current WPT Season XII Player of the Year frontrunner, Jared Jaffee, who earned his first WPT title at his fourth WPT final table.
Players looking to win their entries into the event can play in a full schedule of live satellites, including a $590, 20-seat guarantee tournament at 7pm on Saturday, March 1 and a $590, 10-seat guarantee at 7pm on Thursday, March 20. As always, players 18 and older can qualify for an entry to the bestbet Open Main Event, and bestbet will again award the last player standing aged 21 or younger with a custom surfboard crafted by local designer Mike Whisnant.
Sponsored by ClubWPT.com, the tournament’s final table will be live streamed on www.WPT.com starting at 2pm ET on Tuesday, March 25 with commentary by Raw Deal analyst Tony Dunst. Players looking for additional poker action are invited to participate in bestbet’s massive $50,000 Cash Game on Thursday, March 20. Featuring a minimum buy-in of $50,000, the game will feature a mix of local and professional players competing for some of the largest pots in Florida.
At 5pm on Friday, March 21 (Day 1A), bestbet will hold a WPT Royal Flush Girl bounty invitational where players can compete for cash prizes and the chance to win a $390 satellite entry that can earn them a bestbet Open Main Event seat for Day 1B. Following the bounty tournament, all Main Event players are invited to attend a welcome reception between 6:30pm and 9:30pm where they can socialize with WPT cast members including Mike Sexton and WPT Royal Flush Girls Brittany Bell and Ivy Teves.
