The Season XVI WPT Amsterdam €3,300 Main Event finished its starting flights with the end of play on Wednesday from Holland Casino in Amsterdam. Heading into Thursday’s Day 2, under 100 players remain, and it was Georgios Zisimopoulos in front with a stack of 222,200. Zisimopoulos bagged the leading stack after Day 1b, narrowly edging out Sebastian Ruiz’s stack of 210,500 from Day 1a.

Although it’s still early, the story so far is that of Andreas Klatt, who played Day 1a and bagged up a stack of 103,600 in chips. Klatt is the current points leader on the PokerStars Championship WPT MonteDam Swing leaderboard, but he is still in need of an in-the-money finish in this event to complete the eligibility requirements. Klatt stormed to the top of the leaderboard after winning the €1,100 National Championship in Monaco and coming in second place in the €5,300 Main Event, but as of right now, Paul Gresel is the only player to complete the eligibility requirement of cashing in both stops, Monte Carlo and Amsterdam.

WPT Amsterdam Main Event Top 10

1. Georgios Zisimopoulos – 222,200
2. Sebastian Ruiz – 210,500
3. Daniel Daniyar – 197,000
4. Sven Magirius – 178,700
5. Csaba Sztreborny – 147,700
6. Majid Noubarian – 135,600
7. Aaro Valkila – 132,700
8. Abdelhakim Zoufri – 129,000
9. Omar Lahkdari – 109,000
10. Fatih Aydin – 107,200

Klatt’s stack put him just outside the top 10 heading into Day 2, as he was 14th overall.

Also outside of the top 10 after the two Day 1s were Rob Hollink with 92,000, Tobias Peters with 49,000, and Chen Ke with 47,200. Hollink played Day 1b fresh off his victory in the WPT Amsterdam €6,000 High Roller for €139,323, Peters entered the Main Event following a fourth-place finish in WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam for €19,710, and Ke finished second in the WPT Beijing Main Event that kicked off Season XVI.

PokerStars Team Pro members Jake Cody (31,000), Lex Veldhuis (23,600), and Chris Moneymaker (16,000) also advanced to Day 2 of WPT Amsterdam, but will have plenty of work to do going forward.

With registration open until the start of Day 2 on Thursday at 2 p.m. local time, final numbers on the field size and prize pool will be determined then. In the meantime, get some rest and get ready for another jam-packed day of poker at Holland Casino as the World Poker Tour gets closer to crowning the second WPT champion of the season.
