WPT National Georgia

From November 1-9, the World Poker Tour and Poker Club Management will host its second WPT National stop at Europe-bet.com Poker Room, Tbilisi. The eight-day, seven-event poker festival culminates with the $100,000 guaranteed Main Event from November 6-9. WPT and Europe-bet.com look to build on the inaugural event, which attracted 187 entries.

In addition to the large Main Event guarantee, the organizers announced that there will be no fees taken from any of the prize pools during the festival.

Those who missed the first World Poker Tour festival in Georgia can watch the full recap video:

“Poker is really new in Georgia, and everyone really loves the game”, said English participant Phill, at the previous event. Rahul from Portugal described Georgian players as “good” and “decent”, and Lilly from Germany added: “I hope that all the Georgian ladies are going to pick up poker soon.”

Schedule and Events

The festival kicks off with a WPT Freeroll event, and continues with the two major side events: a $250 buy-in WPT Georgia Poker Championship & $500 buy-in WPT Caucasus Open Poker Tournament. Additionally, there will be a number of super satellites leading into the $1,000 buy-in Main Event, which will feature two starting days on November 6 and 7.

Sightseeing Attractions

Looking to enjoy your stay on and off of the felt in Tbilisi? Here are five things you can do while in Georgia:

  1. Try delicious, plentiful, cheap food and wine. Georgia has a rich cuisine, and is considered the cradle of wine.
  2. View a mixture of old and new architecture in the capital city, Tbilisi. There are winding streets, parks, and castles, along with modern construction, including theatres, bridges, and government buildings.
  3. Visit Tbilisi’s 24-hour sulphur baths. Steamy baths are hundreds of years old, and according to some legends they laid a foundation of the capital city.
  4. Enjoy hipster nightlife. Shardeni Street is a pedestrian alley full of outdoor bars, offering various options for drinking and shisha in a pleasant Middle Eastern atmosphere.
  5. Have a ride outside of Tbilisi. Luckily Georgia is full of outstanding destinations, picturesque valleys and UNSECO sites. For example, there is a Krubera Cave – the deepest known cave on Earth; and Ushguli, Europe’s highest village.

Despite being a small country, there are many more than just five things to do in Georgia. So, why not discover them yourself?
