Day 2 of the Season XV partypoker World Poker Tour Caribbean Main Event took place Monday at Hard Rock Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It was a day that saw registration close, the prize pool and payouts generated, and Troy Quenneville emerge as the chip leader with a stack of 302,000 in chips.

When registration closed, a total of 323 entries were tallied, generating a prize pool of $1.457 million and blowing past the event’s $1 million guarantee. The top 36 places were set to reach the money, with first place worth $335,000. The top four places were each set to earn more than $100,000.

Day 2 Top 10 Chip Counts

1.  Troy Quenneville – 302,000
2.  Alexander Denisov – 280,500
3.  Josef Snejberg – 255,500
4.  Vishal Maini – 246,500
5.  Jean-Luc Adam – 240,000
6.  Did Not Report – 240,000

8.  Keven Stammen – 234,000
9.  Ema Zajmovic – 230,500
10.  Robert Vahlis – 225,000

Quenneville finished with the lead thanks to a late pot he pulled in on Day 2. With the blinds at 1,200-2,400 with a 400 ante, Ankush Mandavia raised from middle position, a player in the hijack seat made the call, and then Quenneville put in a three-bet from the cutoff position. Both Mandavia and the player in the hijack seat called, and the Diamond 10Diamond 6Heart 3 flop prompted action be checked to Quenneville. He bet 22,200, and both opponents made the call.

On the Club Q turn, all three players checked, and the river was the Heart 9. Mandavia led for 14,000, the player in the hijack seat called, and Quenneville called. Quenneville held the Spade ASpade Q for top pair, top kicker, and both opponents mucked.

Both starting flight chip leaders finished in the top 10, with Day 1b’s Jean-Luc Adam bagging up 240,000 for the fifth-largest stack, and Day 1a’s Robert Vahlis finishing on 225,000 for the 10th-largest stack.

Ema Zajmovic finished ninth overall heading into Day 3, and she’s coming off an impressive run in the partypoker.net WPT Montreal Main Event at Playground Poker Club in Canada. There Zajmovic took fifth place from a field of 648 entries to earn his largest career score of C$81,740 ($60,984).

Other notables to advance to Day 3 included WPT Champions Club members Keven Stammen (234,000), Mohsin Charania (161,500), Dylan Wilkerson (110,000), Paul Klann (101,000), and Aaron Mermelstein (90,000).
