Some people would scoff at the idea of spending a beautiful summer Sunday at a poker table – especially when you live in Wisconsin where the summers are short. Some people would scoff, but then again, those people aren’t Scott Chupack, winner of the one-day WPT Regional Wisconsin Mid-Summer Classic at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Casino.

Chupack was one of 204 players – including World Poker Tour’s own Vince Van Patten — who made it to the poker room at 9:30am on Sunday to ante up $550 for a chance at the title. More than 100 other players who didn’t secure a seat before the tournament started put their names on an alternates list hoping for a chance to compete in this sold-out event.

In the end though, it was Chupack who came out victorious, beating Jeremy Farkas heads up and banking $37,820 for his efforts. A regular player in Potawatomi’s high-stakes Omaha game, this win is Chupack’s biggest tournament score to date.
