Day 1A of WPT Legends of Poker saw 142 entries at the cage to register for the first of the three potential starting days knowing full well that if they busted last night or were simply unhappy with their finishing stack they could rebuy into one of the other starting days and move forward with their largest stack.

Included in yesterday’s starting field were Club WPT Online Qualifier Martin Oganov from Glendale, CA and WPTAPL National Champion Christian Nicolay from Dallas, TX. Unfortunately, neither one made it to Day 2, but Christian is choosing to use another buy-in to try again on Saturday.

Also in the field were numerous WPT Champions Club members, including Shawn Buchanan, David Chiu, Scott Clements, Freddy Deeb, Will Failla, Gavin Griffin, Sean Jazayeri, Phil Laak, Lee Markholdt, David Sands, Adam Weinraub, Former POY’s Joe Serock and Faraz Jaka as well as current WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg.

Season XII Ones to Watch Christina Lindley, Kyle Julius and Athanasios Polychronopoulos were in the field as well, however only Christina survived.

Other notables to join the field yesterday were Farzad Bonyadi, WPT Alpha 8 Florida participant Joseph Cheong, recent WPT Season XI Ones to Watch Jason Koon and Dan O’ Brien, Rep Porter, Matt Stout and Paul Volpe.

The player most comfortable going into Day 2? That would be the end of Day 1A chip leader Barry Hutter with 212,400 (pictured above).

Play gets underway for Day 1B in just a few minutes, so head over to WPT Live Updates to stay up to date on all of the action.
