Entering the final table, Economides was second in chips behind Farukh Tach, and the two chip leaders traded elimination blows to the first two opponets. First, Economides busted Ogi Hisashi in ninth place. Then, it was Tach busting Viktor Lavi in eighth.

Rheem scored the next two eliminations when he sent Dzmitry Rabotkin packing in seventh place and Arnaud Peyroles out the door in sixth. Economides was back to it next, sending Farid Chati to the payout desk to collect the fifth-place ticket.

With four players left, all eyes were on three-time WPT champion Chino Rheem, who was looking to become the first-ever player to win both a WPT Main Tour title and WPTDeepStacks titles under his belt. It wouldn’t be for Rheem, though, as he ran pocket twos into the pocket tens of Paul Theobald. Rheem’s fourth-place finish was worth €20,285.

Economides then busted Tach in third place and set up the heads-up match with Theobald. Entering heads-up play, Economides had 3.76 million to Theobald’s 2.495 million.

Economides applied the pressure and extended his lead, but on the final hand he got lucky with the As5s against the AhJc of Theobald. The money went in preflop and the board ran out Qd6h5d3dTs to give Economides the victory. Theobald earned €52,535 for his runner-up finish.
